Monthly Board Highlights - February 2017

If you were unable to attend the February 7, 2017 Board of Trustees meeting, here are some of the actions that took place:

There was an introduction of the new Vice Chancellor of Human Resources, Julianna Mosier. Julie comes to SCCCD from Pasadena Community College.

Doris Griffin was named interim dean of admissions & records and enrollment management from now through June 30, 2017.

The Board approved the SCCC Foundation Audit Report.

Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) Christine Miktarian gave a presentation on Proposition 39 and listed the ways in which the District has saved energy. As a result of our energy efficiency, the District received a check from PG&E in the amount of $245,264.40.

AVC Miktarian also gave a presentation on a Solar Initiative Proposal. The Board will vote next month on whether to go forward with bringing solar to the parking lots of campuses. Under this initiative, these projects would be completed by December 31, 2017. This initiative allows us to work with other solar companies on more solar projects.

AVC Miktarian provided a Capital Construction Projects and Bond Update. The latest edition of the Bond Newsletter is on the website.

Vice Chancellor Ed Eng shared with the Board the Governor’s 2017-2018 January Budget Proposal. The Board also approved the Budget Development Calendar.

The Board shared a presentation of its Self-Evaluation Summary and Goals for 2017.

Board President John Leal announced the Trustees who will be on the Facilities Naming Committee Task Force. They are Trustees Richard Caglia, Ron Nishinaka and Eric Payne.

The Board approved Sabbatical Leaves for (FCC) Ms. Karen Crocket, Mr. Jimmy Hao, Dr. Mary Ann Valentino, Ms. Amie Mazzoni, (RC) Ms. Natasha Maryanow and (CCC) Dr. Arla Hile.

The Board Adopted the following:

  • Revised Board Policy 2012 “Board Duties and Responsibilities”
  • Reedley College Educational Master Plan
  • 2017-2020 State Center Community College District Strategic Plan
  • Resolution Supporting the Guided Pathways Project

There will be a Special Board meeting on March 17, 2017 from 2-4:30 p.m. It is on Project Labor Agreements/Community Benefit Agreements
