Monthly Board Highlights - January 2017

If you were unable to attend the January 10, 2017 Board of Trustees meeting, here are some of the actions that took place:

The Fresno City College Men’s Soccer team was introduced. The team is ranked #3 in the nation. In addition, Eric Solberg was named National Coach of the Year.

New Police Chief, Jose Flores, was also introduced.

There was a Measures C and E Bond and Capital Construction Update. Kitchell was hired as the construction manager. Kitchell will be formulating a project management plan to determine a schedule of all of the bond projects. There will be interviews on the campuses to select an architect. The schedule is: Fresno City College on January 27th, Reedley College science expansion on February 3rd and the Madera manufacturing expansion on February 10th.

The Board had its first read of the Reedley College Educational Master Plan and the SCCCD Strategic Plan 2017 – 2020.

There was a budget update. The District is receiving an extra $550,000. Of that, $200,000 will be used for the new board room.

The Board accepted the 2015-2016 Audit Report.

There were four public hearings:

  • 2017-2020 Full-Time Bargaining Proposal presented by the State Center Federation of Teachers Local 1533, CFT/AFT, AFL-CIO to the District
  • 2017-2020 Part-Time Bargaining Proposal Presented by State Center Federation of Teachers Local 1533, CFT/AFT, AFL-CIO to the District
  • 2017-2020 Bargaining Proposal presented by the District to the Full-Time State Center Federation of Teachers Local 1533, CFT/AFT, AFL-CIO
  • 2017 -2020 Bargaining Proposal presented by the District to the Part-Time State Center Federation of Teachers Local 1533, CFT/AFT, AFL-CIO
