Grant Agreements

Reedley College has been awarded $2,375,000 from the U.S. Dept. of Education for the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) to assist seasonal farmworkers or their children.

The District has received a new $20,000 Tyler Center for Global Studies agreement to fund 20 students with $1,000 scholarships for study abroad participation.

Reedley College has received a new $5,000 Sierra Kings Health Care District agreement to support a healthy transition back to in-person classes this fall. Activities include a health fair to provide access and information to numerous health and wellness support, a monthly lecture series focusing on mental health and wellness for faculty, staff and students, and a behavioral training course for faculty and staff. The activities will address obesity, diabetes and behavioral health.

Clovis Community College, in collaboration with Arizona State University, has received a new $122,956 “Using Communities of Practice to Transform STEM Education for Latinx Students at Two-Year Hispanic Serving Institutions” agreement from the National Science Foundation. The funding will provide resources to expand upon the KickStarter program by incorporating the work of Excelencia for Education and Seal of Excelencia. In addition, the funding will allow the college to commit a STEM Team, being the first community college cohort for this project.

Reedley College has been notified of an intent to award $2,032,553 Wildfire and Prescribed Fire/Fuels Management Program Capacity Increase from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. The goal of the program is to double the enrollment in the Wildland Fire Program, and consequently the number of trained wildland fire fighters who enter the workforce each year. The funding will support increased program capacity for training 120 new and current wildland firefighters who work with the United State Forest Service, CAL Fire, Bureau of Land Management, and State Parks. The college has committed $586,326 in kind match contribution.

Reedley College has received a $340,193 renewal agreement from the California Department of Rehabilitation for the Workability III Program. The funding will provide student access to vocational experiences and assistance with preparing for, obtaining, and maintaining employment. Funding provides for the necessary administrative personnel, as well as the coordinator, job developer, and other support personnel for the program.

Fresno City College and Reedley College have been awarded $5,917,503 funding from the United States Department of Education for the Federal TRIO Program, Upward Bound. The Federal TRIO programs are federal outreach and student services programs designed to identify and provide services for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. Upward Bound provides fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance.

Closed Session

Following closed session, the Board reports as follows:

  • In Closed Session the Board voted 6-0 to reject a claim by Madera Community College faculty member, David Richardson. Trustee Caglia was absent.
