Board Meeting Notes November 10, 2020

If you were unable to attend the November 10, 2020 Board of Trustees meeting, here are some of the actions that took place.

The Board heard the following reports and presentations:

  • College Presidents’ Reports (written)
  • Academic Senate Report by Rebecca Snyder (written)
  • Classified Senate Report by Katherine Guhin (written)
  • Reedley College Wildland Fire Program by President Jerry Buckley, Instructor Adam Hernandez and student Ethan Smith
  • Personnel Commissioner Pamela Fobbs’ Service to the District by Chancellor Parnell
  • Fresno City College Pilot for Prototype Comprehensive Plan by President Carole Goldsmith
  • Academic Management Classification and Compensation Study by Vice Chancellor Julianna Mosier & Reward Strategy Group.
  • The Board voted to approve the study with the caveat that the District create an administrative taskforce to report back to the Board so that they’re held accountable for future studies and the future voices of the other employees involved.

Public Hearing and Adoption:

Previously announced intended appointment to the Personnel Commission, consideration of other candidates, and appointment of Joseph Hebert as the new commissioner

Approved the following:

  • Academic Personnel Transactions as presented
  • Classified Personnel Transactions as presented
  • Summer 2020, Fall 2020, Spring 2021, and Fall 2021 Curriculum proposals
  • Dual Enrollment Courses with Fresno City College for spring 2021
  • Ad Hoc Committee to review Board Self-Evaluation Instrument and Process per BP 2745. The committee is comprised of Trustees Deborah Ikeda, Richard Caglia and John Leal.

Adopted the following:

  • Resolution 2020.41, Authorizing Budget Transfers and Adjustment September 30, 2020
  • Resolution 2020.37, Scheduling date and time for Organizational meeting of the Board of Trustees
  • Resolution 2020.38, Notice of Intention to convey easement to PG & E at the new FCC Parking Structure
  • Resolution 2020.40, Approving amended and restated Bylaws for the Independent Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee

Approved the following Grant Agreements:

The District has received a renewal $606,369 agreement from the State Chancellor’s Office for the Regional Consortia grant. The funding will provide support for alignment and integration of CTE pathways within the regional priority and emergent industry sectors.

Reedley College has received a $44,706 renewal agreement from Tulare County, Health and Human Services Agency/TulareWORKs. The funding will provide subsidized employment work sites, soft skills instruction and interview coaching to at least twelve TulareWORKs students at Reedley College.

Clovis Community College has received a $145,000 renewal agreement from the Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz). The funding will provide the expansion of small-business consulting for the Valley Community Small Business Development Center in order to expand the reach of the Small Business Development Center across the four-county region.

Clovis Community College has received a $70,000 renewal agreement from the Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz). The funding will help small businesses and entrepreneurs by obtaining access to fund advertising and consulting services.

The District has received a $200,000 renewal agreement from the State Chancellor’s Office as the Regional Director of Global Trade. SCCCD will coordinate and support professional development and resources to infuse global trade sector materials into a variety of existing and to-be-developed curriculums.

The District was awarded $146,666 in a sub-agreement from the College of the Sequoias for a food safety outreach collaborative education & training grant. This USDA grant will provide the Training Institute resources to develop food safety training to farmers, key personnel and fieldworkers.
