Rehabilitation Aide Certificate of Achievement 2020-2021

The Certificate of Achievement in Rehabilitation Aide is designed to prepare students for employment as an entry-level rehabilitation aide who work directly under a medical therapeutic profession such as physical therapist, physical therapy assistant, or occupational therapist. Rehabilitation Aides have clinical and office training to work in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, skilled nursing, and private practice clinics. Students will receive instruction in basic human anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, office skills, and basic rehabilitation procedures. No prerequisites are required and there are no limitations.

Student selection and fees: The program is open enrollment and there is a selection process for admission to the program, in compliance with provisions of Title 5, section 55201, and 58106. The mandatory fees will include uniforms for lab, insurance, and travel expenses to externship sites that students will incur, for the program as a whole or any of its constituent courses, aside from the ordinary course enrollment fee prescribed in Education Code section 76300.

Additional Information

  1. Students will be prepared to obtain an entry-level position as a rehabilitation aide, working under a physical therapist, physical therapy assistant, or occupational therapist.
  2. Students who are currently certified nursing assistants be prepared to transition as a restorative nursing assistant.
  3. Students will be eligible to take the American Heart Association Basic Life Support provider certification.

  1. Students will be able to utilize office skills in a rehabilitation setting.
  2. Students will be able to utilize basic rehabilitation procedures on patients.
