Learning-Aligned Employment Program (LAEP)

What is the Learning-Aligned Employment Program (LAEP)?

LAEP allows an eligible student to work either on campus at Clovis Community College or at an off campus employer in an educationally beneficial position related to the student’s area of study, career objective, or the exploration of career objectives. It is a financial aid program that is awarded to eligible students as part of their financial aid award package. For more information, please review the Work Study Handbook.

Off Campus Employers

LAEP provided funds to participating California colleges to offer eligible students opportunities to earn money to help defray their educational costs while gaining career-related experience in their fields of study. 

LAEP can provide up to 50% of the student’s compensation at for-profit employers and 90% of the student’s compensation at nonprofit employers and public schools.

Students

Eligibility Criteria

  • Complete a FAFSA or CA Dream Act
  • Be eligible to work in the U.S. (Have a U.S. Birth Certificate, Naturalization Certificate, Permanent Resident Card, or Employment Authorization Card) 
  • Enroll in at least six units of enrollment each term (excluding Summer)
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress 
  • Have available unmet need as determined by FAFSA or CA Dream Act

Eligible students can be hired for on campus positions where job duties include assisting in research. There are also positions at off campus sites through outside employers.
