Dr. Selvans a naturalist who loves to learn about the world around her, including local geology and environmental hazards. She is a scientist, doing research in the fields of tectonics and planetary science, and an educator who loves teaching (and learning from!) college students.

She helped create several Earth and Space Science units in a nationally acclaimed K-8 science curriculum, and enjoys sharing that expertise with future teachers. She is a Co-PI for an NSF (National Science Foundation) grant, alongside Fresno State colleagues, titled “GP-UP: Building Opportunities through Networks of Discovery in the Geosciences (GEOBOND),” and most recently co-authored the paper “Mercury's Crustal Thickness and Contractional Strain,” an article published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters. Dr. Selvans worked on this research when she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Air and Space Museum, and as a Research Affiliate since then.
