Canvas Updates - September 2018

What's new in Canvas?

Canvas Updates Summer 2018

Duplicate Items

Assignments, graded discussions, and pages can now be duplicated in Canvas. Previously, if there was an assignment that was completed multiple times over the semester (participation check, or journal assignments for example), these would have to be created as new each time. Now, the assignment just has to be created once and can be duplicated multiple times.

Student To Do List

Students now have a choice to view their dashboard as a to do list that aggregates the content from all their courses. As instructors, we can now add non-graded items to this to do list.

Faculty Highlights

Faculty Doing Cool Things

This month's highlight belongs to Brooke Ramos, one of our librarians. Brooke teaches online Library Skills 1, an introduction to library sciences / information literacy course.

She has a great way of maintaining faculty presence and getting her students started on their final projects. Watch this video below to hear more about her approach and the benefits of Library Skills 1.

Canvas Extra Credit

Are you using all the tools on your navigation bar? Not many people are. Did you know you can hide the ones you won't be using and save your students the extra clicks.

Congratulations to Summer 2018 DE Certification Finishers!

These faculty completed an intensive 2-week hybrid training course to become certified to teach online. Opportunities for Fall training are being set up - email tracy.stuntz@cloviscollege.edu to receive more information.
