Statement from Clovis Community College regarding guidelines on community use of District facilities.

Aug 30, 2019

An event on campus on September 18 is not a college/student activities sponsored event. It is sponsored by GV Wire.

Per Administration Code 6700 for State Center Community College District/Clovis Community College regarding Civic Center and Use of Facilities:

District facilities are available for community use when such use does not conflict with District programs and operations. Facility use shall be limited to places and time identified by each Vice President-Administrative Services/Associate Business Manager. Except as provided in these regulations, no organizations shall be denied the use of District facilities because of the content of the speech to be undertaken during the use.

“While external organizations pay to rent facilities at Clovis Community College, it does not mean an endorsement of the speaker and/or organization. Clovis Community College is committed to maintaining a safe campus of inclusion and equity for all.  Clovis Community College does not endorse hate speech or anti-Semitic remarks,”
Dr. Lori Bennett, President, Clovis Community College.

The freedom of speech and expression is broadly protected against governmental restrictions by the Constitution of the United States.

Clovis Community College complies with all federal and state rules and regulations and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, disability, sexual orientation, religion or age. Harassment of any employee/student with regard to race, color, national origin, gender, disability, sexual orientation, religion or age is strictly prohibited. Inquiries regarding compliance and/or grievance procedures may be directed to the college’s Title IX Officer and/or the Section 504/ADA Coordinator.
