Campus Leaders Wanted for Truth Campaign

We need two, high-energy student campus leaders

Join with truth® and be a part of the movement to finish smoking for good!

Who we are:

truth® is the largest youth smoking prevention campaign in the country. In 2000, when we launched, the teen cigarette smoking rate was 23%. Now, it’s down to 6%, but millions of teens still smoke, so we work to provide young people with the tools they need to reject tobacco. We want this generation to end smoking for good.

How we roll:

truth® has been creating awesome mobile experiences for over a decade. We throw high- energy, attention-grabbing parties to help ignite passion for the cause. We spin music from DJ booths, play games, and give away merch that reps our message and shares facts about tobacco -- right on your college campus.

We’re looking for:

Outgoing, talented, hardworking Student Leaders with a demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire their peers to make change on campus. We need passionate, friendly, loud people who will help truth on campus forward the movement to end smoking; to rally students to stand up for 100% tobacco free campuses.

What will you do:

  • Work hard - It’s fun, but it takes a lot to pull a campus-wide event together.
  • Be a team player - You'll be part of a unique team made up of other students.
  • Be outgoing - Creatively engage others at events and give away our awesome merch
  • Be passionate – Engage crowds, play games, & have amazing conversations about social change
  • Inspire - Through creativity and social influence spread the truth & drive change on campus

  • Engage: Execute at least six low-intensity advocacy activities (ex. repping truth at a 24 hour dance-a-thon, partnering with an existing campus event to add a truth® experience).
  • Enlist: Enlist 10-15% of the student population via SMS opt ins and recruit at least five activists to support your efforts on campus.
  • Mobilize: Host two high-intensity advocacy actions and two advocacy actions to support national truth campaign activities

  • Attend the College Leader orientation webinar on March 7, 2019 @ 3:00pm
  • Attend the mandatory college convening in Crystal City, Virginia April 5-7, 2019 (Travel and Conference provided through grant funding).
  • You are planning to attend Clovis Community College through Spring 2020
