Tutorial Center Classes

In addition to offering free tutoring to students, the Clovis Community College Tutorial Center offers courses for the general student population as well as tutoring-specific courses to help our tutors develop professionally.

Call us at 325-5248 or stop by the Tutorial Center (AC1-137) during our open hours to learn more about the different courses and services we offer!

ENGL 72: Writing Center Theory and Practice:

This course provides instruction and guided practice in peer learning assistance. ENGL 72 is open to all students but acts mainly as support for new tutors to discuss writing center theory and adopt the most effective tutoring practices.

ENGL 72A: Advanced Writing Center Theory and Practice:

The successor to ENGL 72, ENGL 72A continues the discussion of best practices in tutoring with a focus on the special needs of various types of student writers (ESL and international students, students with learning disorders, online students, and other specialized groups of students).

ENGL 272: Assistance in College Writing:

Known as "group tutoring," our ENGL 272 program acts as ancillary practice and guidance for students enrolled in ENGL 252, ENGL 125, ENGL 126, or ENGL 1A. Students enrolled in ENGL 272 attend two 50-minute group sessions each week with a small group of peers to reinforce the writing skills and concepts presented in class. The Tutorial Center coordinators oversee ENGL 272, but the groups are led by experienced tutors.

INTDS 300: Interdisciplinary Studies, Academic Learning Center:

Students interested in taking advantage of our free tutoring services can enroll in this zero-unit, no-cost course at any point in the semester.
