December 2025 Update

Published: January 12, 2026

Welcome back and happy first day of the spring semester!

I hope everyone was able to take some time over the break to relax and enjoy time with family or friends. December was busy with meetings and reports, but some highlights included the CCC President’s Luncheon, the holiday potluck and gift exchange, a Save Mart Center walk through for commencement planning, and the Student Services Division meeting. I was excited to see faculty back on campus last week and greet students this morning eager to get to class. One young man I helped realized he was at the wrong campus and was supposed to be at FCC. Below are highlights from several of our Student Services areas, along with information on upcoming events. Wishing everyone a smooth start to the semester!

Thank you,

Kira Tippins (she/her)
Vice President of Student Services

Basic Needs & Resources

Meeting a Moment of Need – Crush Pantry

During Fall 2025, delays in CalFresh benefits left many students without reliable access to food. When support was uncertain, the Crush Pantry stepped in to help students meet their basic needs.

Fall 2025 Crush Pantry Visits
Term Unduplicated Visits Total Check-ins (Student Contacts)
Fall 2025 2,682 17,885

Thank You, CCC Community! Because of your generosity, compassion, and willingness to show up for our students, pantry shelves remained stocked and students felt supported. Together, we ensured no student had to face food insecurity alone.

Farmers Market & Pop-Up Coaching

During Fall 2025, we hosted five Farmers Markets in partnership with the Central California Food Bank. These events supported 1,091 students and community members, providing access to free, fresh produce and positively impacting 4,399 household members overall.

In addition, Pop-Up Coaching brought on-the-spot student support into informal campus spaces. Student Success Coaches hosted three Pop-Up Coaching activities throughout Fall 2025, connecting directly with 152 students to offer guidance, answer questions, and provide timely support.

Upcoming Farmers Market & Pop-Up Coaching Events

We're excited to continue offering Farmers Market and Pop-Up Coaching events in the coming months. These events provide convenient access to fresh produce alongside personalized student support, all in one stop.

We encourage students, faculty, and staff to stop by, connect with our teams, and take advantage of these valuable campus resources.

Student Equity Book Vouchers

During the Summer and Fall 2025 terms, Clovis Community College Equity Book Voucher Program supported 171 students with purchasing course materials.

The Book Vouchers are for students who are experiencing unforeseen financial challenges, emergency situations, or unexpected events, and can apply for a Student Equity Book Voucher to help purchase textbooks for class. These vouchers are offered through the Basic Needs Center and can only be redeemed for enrolled classes at Clovis Community College. Students can apply each semester for Summer, Fall, and Spring and will have continuous support from a Student Success Coach throughout the semester.

Basic Needs and the Crush Clothing Closet Host 2nd Clothing Swap

Clovis Community College’s fall Kids Clothing Swap welcomed 80 students and family members—nearly four times as many as the spring event. With 89 total attendees, including staff and faculty, the event provided free children’s clothing, diapers, and helpful resources in a warm, supportive space.

Hosted in partnership with Basic Needs and Retention Services, the Crush Clothing Closet, and the Child Development Center (CDC), the event featured giveaways donated by the Fresno Chaffee Zoo and Syctron Free Play Arena. Community partners like Child Services Network (CSN) also connected families with local support services.

As part of the college’s Parent Success Initiative, the event continues to create spaces of support and belonging. Remaining items were added to the children’s section of the Crush Clothing Closet to ensure ongoing access.

Save the date! The next Clothing Swap is set for Friday, May 1, 2026.

Student Activities

We’re excited to welcome students back for the Spring semester! Student Activities is kicking things off with Welcome Week, featuring Pepsi, cinnamon rolls, free snacks, and support available throughout campus.

Beginning January 15, stop by AC3 to view our MLK display honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy of advocacy and service.

We will wrap up the month with Club Rush on January 28, an opportunity for students and staff to connect, explore campus clubs, and get involved.

Health and Wellness Services

Souped Up & Ready to Go, January 22, 11:00am-2:00pm in Health Services, AC2-274 – Health and Wellness Services will be offering a free hot Cup-of-Noodles to the campus community to kick-off the Spring Semester!

Pride Center

Students continue to enjoy the Pride Center, and our LGBTQ+ community is quickly outgrowing the space. It is great to hear the laughter that comes from the space and knowing our students have a safe space to pass the time in between classes.

Title IX

In October, Deputy Title IX Coordinator Renee Garcia was able to purchase our very own set of Rape, Aggression, Defense (RAD) equipment for our on-campus self-defense classes. Our equipment arrived just before the December RAD session, and participants were able to utilize this equipment in this class. There were 11 graduates for the December RAD class, and as usual, the feedback was nothing but positive.

Financial Aid

We disbursed just over $12 million in Fall 2025!

We now have services available in Spanish and Hmong.

The priority financial aid application & scholarship deadline is 3/2/26. We will be hosting an on-campus Saturday event for current and incoming students on 2/28/26.

CCC Financial Aid staff, along with Dream Counselors, will be hosting Dream Days at CUSD schools in Spring.

We are now offering opportunities to hire undocumented students via a volunteer program that makes them eligible for a state grant. If interested in hiring/mentoring a student, please reach out to Milagros Prado.

We will soon be receiving state emergency funds to assist our Dreamer students. Funds will be available mid-Spring semester.

Psychological Services

Interns will facilitate two therapy groups: “Successful University Transition Skills” and a group for LGBTQ+ students. More info to come!

Dr. Stewart will re-launch the Active Minds Club on campus.

Disabled Student Programs & Services (DSPS)

Annual Transition to College Night is scheduled for January 28. This is an orientation to college services and DSPS for high school students with disabilities and their parents. Students will receive a custom CCC backpack and school supplies at the event. There will also be an opportunity for students to meet their future counselor and book their first appointment.

Outreach

Starting this month, Outreach will join Counseling to provide advising sessions at the local high schools where students will meet individually with a college counselor to complete a Student Education Plan. This is the next step in the matriculation process to qualify for priority registration later this spring.

Tours continue to increase with 22 tours this semester representing 557 visitors to our campus. If you see an ambassador conducting a tour on campus, make sure to welcome our visitors!
