Pre-Requisite & Application Eligibility

To be eligible for enrollment in the program, the student must meet the following criteria:

  • Students must be eligible for graduation with the exception of OTA coursework.
  • Completion of Pre-requisite courses*:
    • Bio 5, Bio 25 or equivalent
    • PSY 2, PSY 16, SOC 1A, or equivalent
    • ENG 1A, ENG 1A & ENG 205, or equivalent
    • COMM 10 or equivalent
    • HCA 5 or equivalent
    • MATH 11, STAT 7, MATH 45, or equivalent
    • OT 10 or equivalent
    • ECE 14, CHDEV 38, PSY 38, or equivalent

    *It is recommended that courses have been completed within the last 10 years at the time of application to the program.

  • Completion of Clovis Community College Associate's Degree general education courses in the following areas;
    • Area C- Humanities
    • Area E- Lifetime Skills Requirements (EI & EII)
    • Area F-Government and American Institutions
    • Area G-Communication
  • Completion of Clovis Community College graduation competencies for reading, writing, and math.
  • Students must have an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Students must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher for prerequisite courses.
  • Courses passed with a grade "P" or "CR" will be calculated into the student's GPA as a "C" grade.
  • Students with in-progress coursework must show proof of enrollment at the time of application and submit proof of successful completion at the end of the semester to retain eligibility. Wait-listed courses are not eligible.
  • All official transcripts and approved course substitution forms for courses completed outside of the State Center Community College District must be on file with the Clovis Community College Admissions & Records office at the time of application

How to apply

Core prerequisite courses must be completed with a grade of “c” or better.

General education and specified OTA Program Pre-requisite coursework must be completed prior to beginning the OTA program*

*Courses may be “in-progress” during the application process; official transcripts must demonstrate successful completion prior to starting the OTA program.

Felony Convictions:

Individuals considering entering the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program who have been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime may not be able to sit for the NBCOT exam and /or complete the licensure process in California.
