Statement of Commitment

Clovis Community College is committed to ensuring equal access and participation for everyone. We are committed to treating people with disabilities in a way that allows them to maintain their dignity and independence. We believe in integration, and we are committed to meeting the needs of people with disabilities in a timely manner. We will do so by removing and preventing barriers to accessibility and by meeting our accessibility requirements under Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended (29 U.S.C. 794d).

What Does Accessible Mean?

Title 5 sec 55200 accessible definition:

“Accessible” means a person with a disability is afforded the opportunity to acquire the same information, engage in the same interactions, and enjoy the same services as a person without a disability in an equally effective and equally integrated manner, with substantially equivalent ease of use. The person with a disability must be able to obtain the information as fully, equally, and independently as a person without a disability. Although this might not result in identical ease of use compared to that of persons without disabilities, it still must ensure equal opportunity for the educational benefits and opportunities afforded by the technology and equal treatment in the use of such technology.
