Celebrate Black History Month with us at Clovis Community College! We're excited to begin the month with an opening ceremony and reception featuring Brandon Leake, winner of America's Got Talent (2020) and an internationally recognized spoken word artist. Brandon's blend of poetry and storytelling encourages people to find their voice, embrace resilience, and connect with their purpose. His message continues to resonate with audiences of all ages, and we're excited to welcome him to campus.

Opening Day: Fresno African Drumming Circle

African Drumming Circle

Experience the energy and tradition of West African drumming with the Fresno African Drumming Circle. Participants will learn beginner rhythms, songs, and djembe techniques in a hands-on, guided session. Drums will be provided—just bring your curiosity and enthusiasm.

HBCU Caravan – Hosted by Fresno City College

UPDATE: More than 20 colleges and universities are scheduled to participate in the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) caravan and fair event on February 3. It will now be relocated to the outdoor plaza area next to the New Science Building on the east side of campus. Notifications will continue to be sent out to all FCC faculty, staff and students on the First to Know system. We will continue to post updates on the FCC website. Fresno City College

Join SCCCD students for the 2026 HBCU Caravan at Fresno City College. Meet with more than 20 HBCU recruiters and explore transfer opportunities, on-the-spot admissions, scholarships, and waived application fees. The event also features raffles, a Divine 9 presentation and stroll, and a resource fair. Free food for the first 50 students. *RSVP Required.

Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park

Join us for a day of learning and reflection in Allensworth, the first town in California founded, financed, and governed by African Americans. This experience highlights the Central Valley's rich cultural history and deepens our understanding of local Black heritage. Free transportation provided. *RSVP Required.

8th Annual African American Read-In

Wednesday, February 18, 2026  ◦  12 p.m. – 1 p.m. ◦  CCC Library

The National African American Read-In is the country's longest-running event focused on celebrating Black literature. Participants have up to five minutes to read a selection by a Black author. Poetry, short stories, song lyrics, essays, children’s books, or favorite excerpts are all welcome. Join us as we uplift Black voices and storytelling. Refreshments will be provided. *RSVP if interested in reading.

Yoga and Wellness Experience

A 90-minute, all-levels wellness session featuring gentle yoga, calming breathwork, and guided reflection focused on self-care, resilience, and Black community wellness. Participants will leave feeling grounded, supported, and restored.
