Follett bookstore Introduce New, Improved Tools for Accessing Course Materials

Jul 31, 2020

We are pleased to introduce Follett Discover – a new, comprehensive set of tools enabling hassle-free access for faculty and students to all course materials.

Key Benefits of Follett Discover

  • Students will have easy access to purchase and manage eBooks, textbooks, and other course materials from within WebAdvisor and Canvas. This visibility supports Higher Education Opportunity Act compliance for the four colleges and allows students to see the price of course materials as they register. Once enrolled, students will automatically know which courses they are in and will see the associated course materials. If free materials (Open Educational Resources) have been adopted, students will be able to simply click to view them. Students can use their student ID and will be able to create a custom shopping cart of their required books within each bookstore’s website, allowing them to add or remove books before checking out.
  • Faculty will be able to research, discover, and adopt course materials with ease via an upgraded textbook adoption tool that automatically knows which classes faculty are assigned. Faculty can simply enter their ISBN if they know it, or explore other materials, read reviews, create their own course packs, and adopt Open Educational Resources (OER) from sources including Merlot, Coursera, OpenStax, Khan Academy, etc.

When Will Follett Go Live?

Follett Discover links will be visible from within WebAdvisor and Canvas on Monday, August 3, 2020.

Getting Help and Additional Information

Follett representatives will share information on how to access the application, links to demo videos, and training materials with faculty and department chairs. Any additional questions can be directed to your local bookstore.
