Virtual recognition to honor student athletes for annual kiwanis torch of excellence event

Apr 27, 2020

Although this year’s event scheduled for April 27th was canceled due to COVID-19, we went virtual and prepared a video to recognize this year’s honorees.

The Kiwanis Torch of Excellence Dinner has been an annual community event with over 500 attendees since 1997.
This event is a partnership between the athletic departments of Clovis Community College, Fresno City College, Reedley College and the Kiwanis Clubs of Fresno – Madera counties. The event celebrates the academic achievement of scholar-athletes with exceptional GPAs for spring or fall 2019. The young women and men have achieved honors both academically in their educational pursuits and athletically in their individual sports.

"The Torch of Excellence occurs annually to celebrate the academic achievements of student-athletes within the Athletics Departments at Clovis Community College, Reedley College and Fresno City College. In order to qualify, student-athletes must have earned a 3.2 GPA or higher for at least one semester in the 2019 calendar year. Clovis Community College is proud to celebrate the 39 student-athletes who met this academic standard including five (5) who achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA in both the spring and fall semesters. These student-athletes are superstars and deserve to be recognized for their academic achievements. I congratulate each of their achievements and proud that they represent Clovis Crush Athletics,"

Pamm Zierfuss-Hubbard, Director of Athletics, Clovis Community College.
