Clovis Community College named a “2020 Champion of Higher Education” for the THIRD consecutive year

Jan 5, 2021

For the third consecutive year, the Campaign for College Opportunity has named Clovis Community College a 2020 Champion of Higher Education for our exemplary work in implementing the Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT).

Clovis Community College is #1 in the state for number of ADTs awarded relative to campus enrollment (per 50 full-time equivalent students in 2018-19). Clovis Community College is committed to ensuring all students have a strong and clear transfer pathway to earn a bachelor’s degree!

President Dr. Lori Bennett and Clovis Community College will be recognized along with all of the 2020 Champions of Higher Education at the Campaign for College Opportunity “Committing to Transfer as a Key Racial Equity Strategy” event on Thursday, November 19 at 10:30 a.m. featuring the Honorable Alex Padilla, Secretary of State and SB 1440 author, and the Honorable Marc Berman, Assemblymember for the 24th District and Chair of the Select Committee on the Master Plan.

The Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) is a degree offered at all California community colleges, which guarantees transfer to many four-year universities.

The ADT degrees are the results of Senate Bill 1440, authored by then-Senator Alex Padilla in 2010, which offers students a streamlined transfer pathway with guaranteed admission and junior standing to participating universities, and saves students time and money.

“Clovis Community College is honored to be named a “2020 Champion for Higher Education” for the third consecutive year for our exemplary work in awarding Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADT) by the Campaign for College Opportunity organization. Thank you to our faculty and staff for their hard work in helping our students achieve their transfer goals. I am very proud of our ADT students, who started their educational journey at Clovis Community College, then successfully transferred to a CSU or other university to earn a 4-year degree,” Dr. Lori Bennett, president, Clovis Community College.

The Associate Degree for Transfer pathway has supported Clovis Community College students in achieving their goal to transfer. Currently, Clovis Community College offers 23 ADT degrees.
