Clovis Community College earns statewide and national recognition for our outstanding student equity work and transfer rates

Nov 29, 2021

For the fourth consecutive year, the Campaign for College Opportunity named Clovis Community College a 2021 Champion of Higher Education for our exemplary work in implementing the Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT). Clovis Community College is consistently one of the top performers in the state for the number of ADTs awarded relative to campus enrollment (per 50 full-time equivalent students in 2019-20).

In a new category this year, Clovis Community College was also named a 2021 Equity Champion of Higher Education for our exemplary work in awarding Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADT) to Latinx students.

Clovis Community College is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and this award signifies our college-wide progress in closing the achievement gap amongst Latinx students. We are dedicated to ensuring all students have a strong and clear transfer pathway to earn a bachelor’s degree.

Finally, the Aspen Institute just announced its list of 150 community colleges nationwide that are eligible to compete for the 2023 Aspen Prize. Clovis Community College was selected for this honor from 1,000 community colleges across the nation based on our strong student outcomes. Clovis joins a prestigious group of community colleges that demonstrate improved student outcomes in key areas including retention, completion, transfer, and equity.

The Aspen Institute website states:

The $1 million Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, awarded every two years, is the nation’s signature recognition for America’s community colleges—as President Obama called it, “basically the Oscars for great community colleges.” The Aspen Prize honors colleges with outstanding achievement in five critical areas: teaching and learning, certificate and degree completion, transfer and bachelor’s attainment, workforce success, and equity for students of color and students from low-income backgrounds.

Clovis Community College is proud to represent our central valley communities as we accept the Campaign for College Opportunity Awards and begin the in-depth application process for the Aspen Award.

Thank you for your continued support of Clovis Community College as we continue Creating Opportunities – One Student at a Time.”
