Yes, you do need a parking pass to park in any lot either at the main or Herndon campuses. Students are not permitted to park in spaces labeled "staff". However, parking is relaxed January 8-19 in student stalls. Visit the parking information page for details on how to purchase your permit.
If your class doesn't have a time listed in Self-Service and says “Internet Days to be Announced, Times to be Announced” that means it is likely an online class with no specific times you need to log in to class (which is also referred to as an asynchronous class). Make sure to always check the class notes in Self-Service by clicking on the blue class title to double check any times or notes that may be listed. Some hybrid and online classes have a few specific times you’ll need to attend but that will be listed in the class notes.
Your class schedule is now available right inside My Portal next to your favorite apps. It is also located in Self-Service under the Academics menu. We strongly recommend you print your schedule or keep a picture of it on your phone before the first day of class as our systems slow during the first week of class due to the amount of traffic on those sites. Visit our Welcome Week booths or the Welcome Center if you need help looking up your schedule.
Yes, it’s definitely not too late to add more classes or switch classes. After midnight the night before the first class session, you will not be able to register for the class online so make sure to either email the professor of the class you wish to add or attend the class in person to ask whether there is room. For instructions on how to add classes, visit the Registration Help page.
If you were still on the waitlist for a class prior to the first class session, contact the professor by email (online or hybrid classes) or in class (in-person classes) to see if there is room available. Let the instructor know you were on the waitlist as those students receive priority if there is room in the class. For instructions on how to add classes, visit the Registration Help page.
Some professors may email your school email address with more information on the class, but that isn’t an official practice. The best way to learn more about your online or hybrid classes is to log on to Canvas on the first day of class and click on the courses tab. Some professors may not publish the Canvas course right away so don’t be worried if it isn’t there before the start of class. If the class is in-person, show up at the time and location listed on the schedule portion of My Portal or in Self-Service on the first day of your class.
Visit the Class Schedule page to view our open class list or search in Self-Service, located in My Portal.
You can visit your instructor’s office hours or visit the Tutorial Center. The Tutorial Center offers tutorial services both in-person and online. Visit the Tutorial Center for more information.
