Guidelines for Online Tutoring

The Tutorial Center offers a convenient way for SCCCD students to receive FREE online tutoring during our open hours. The Center uses Zoom to allow students to share their desktops and documents.

Guidelines

Math and Science Tutoring:

  • Drop-in
  • No limit on visits

Writing Tutoring Appointments:

  • Each appointment is 30 minutes long.
  • Students may schedule two online appointments per day with a 30-minute break in between.

Technology Requirements:

  • Computer, laptop, or phone with a working microphone 
  • Internet access

Expectations:

  • For writing appointments, students should have all files they plan to work on ready to upload.
  • For math and science tutoring, students should be prepared to take a picture of the question and upload it.
  • Students may also write out questions in the session using the drawing tool.
  • Students should be aware that it might take a few minutes to get the session ready. Please be prepared to follow the necessary steps to enter a session.

Net Tutor

NetTutor provides a second option where students can receive free 24/7 online tutoring. NetTutor provides assistance in all subjects by third-party professional tutors. It is available in student's canvas courses and found on the left navigation pane.
