Early Childhood Education

Why Study Early Childhood Education at CCC?

The Early Childhood Education Department at Clovis Community College teaches students to work with young children and their families in a variety of roles and settings. Early education programs include state-funded children's programs, private and public preschools, family child-care, and public school programs. Classes in Early Childhood Education can lead to careers working directly or indirectly with children in related fields, such as psychology, social services, and pediatric health. Students can earn certificates that align with the California Child Development Permit Matrix, in order to qualify for various education roles in the field of early care and education. Our core 8 classes can be easily transferred to other approved colleges or universities.

Our Philosophy

Our view of children's development and learning is based on our beliefs which are founded on research and are supported by development theory. It is our belief that young children are competent individuals who grow and learn through exploring and investigating the world around them. We view each child as unique with their own pattern of development, influenced by their socio-cultural experiences. We value each child and their family and desire a connection between home and school. We are committed to supporting children's social-emotional growth and wellbeing.
