As of September 1, 2016, Child Development/Early Childhood Education students are required to have immunizations, depending on the course, before doing observation hours as a results of Senate Bill 792.
- TB Risk Assessment
- Proof of current Negative TB test (or Negative QuantiFERON TB Gold blood test or Negative Chest X-ray)
- Flu shot for the current school year (received between 8/1-12/1)
- Tdap (documentation within 10 years)
- Measles (documentation of two MMR vaccinations or a positive Measles titer)
Please see your class syllabus for further information.
You will need to bring copies of all your immunizations to the Health Services Office during your appointment to determine if you meet the current requirements. The College Nurse can also work with you on ways to obtain copies of immunizations if you do not have them (see below), or titers can be ordered in some cases. You are responsible for the cost.
Obtaining Immunization Records - Medical Providers enrolled in the California Immunization Registry (CAIR), which is a secure, confidential, statewide computerized immunization information system for California Residents, may have inputted your immunization records into the CAIR system. To find out if your immunization records are in CAIR and to request a copy, please click on the following link: Request Complete Immunization History. The College Nurse can also access CAIR during your office visit.
If you are under 18 years of age - please contact Health Services for a copy of the Minor Consent form.
TB skin tests and Flu shots are free (*Students who do not return for their TB test read will be charged $20 for the next TB test).
TB Tests and Clearance Certification
TB Risk Assessment Clearance Certification and/or Tuberculosis (TB) Skin Tests to fulfill District work requirements are provided at no cost to SCCCD employees and are paid for by the District. Student health fees are not used to pay for this service.

Isolation Requirements for Students: If you test positive for COVID-19:
- Stay home and notify your instructor
- You can go back to your normal activities when, for at least 24-hours, both are true:
- Your symptoms are getting better overall, and
- You have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication).
- When you go back to your normal activities, take added precautions over the next 5 days, such as taking additional steps for cleaner air, hygiene, masks, physical distancing, and/or testing when you will be around other people indoors. This is especially important to protect people with factors that increase their risk of severe illness from respiratory viruses.
- Keep in mind that you may still be able to spread the virus that made you sick, even if you are feeling better. You are likely to be less contagious at this time, depending on factors like how long you were sick or how sick you were.
- If you develop a fever or you start to feel worse after you have gone back to normal activities, stay home and away from others again until, for at least 24-hours, both are true: Your symptoms are improving overall, and you have not had a fever (and are not using fever-reducing medication). Then take added precaution for the next 5 days.
